  11. Loved this informative article about Tinycards by Duolingo. These flashcards for learning languages are so cool! I lived in Italy for one year while I was studying abroad for college years ago. I loved the language but without being immersed in it, I have lost a lot of the language skills I had. I have been wanting to take Italian at our local community college to brush up on the language but with a young 7-year old son I have been unable to attend. So, I started looking at alternatives and came across your site. I love all the information you have about learning Italian, you are a true resource. 13. Thank you for your review on Tinycards by Duolingo. I have been using Duolingo for 3 months now and I am happy with it. I am currently learning Japanese on it. There are some glitches with the pronunciation on some words and sentences in Japanese, I wonder if Italian has the same problem.

Continuous memorization also makes data stick to our brains. These two combined are a game changer.

  17. I see people using physical flashcards to learn languages. I was following a YouTube channel were there is this language course for kids and the teacher brought out some flash cards and it was really fun. So I thought “There must be digital flash cards”. And voila, here they are!

I’ll check them out. Thanks for sharing details on which decks to use.

    1. Hey there,

Good you’re interested in using flash cards. You’re most welcome. Have a nice time learning new vocabulary with Duolingo’s Tinycards.

  18. Flashcards have always been a bit boring to me. But I also know they are effective.

So I was first using something called “Anki” and it was nice but I wanted something a bit more illustrated and I think I have found it. I’m very visual, and these pictures are nice and warming. They make you want to study.

    1. Hi! I have also used Anki. Yeah it’s a good free open-source flashcard program. I’d also recommend it. But yeah, Tinycards by Duolingo are a bit more pleasing to the eye

  19. Hi,

The pros and cons you shared are very helpful. Nowadays we all know that all the products come with upsells. Even before reaching the member’s area, they bombard us with upsell after upsell (one-time offers). I am really surprised and amazed to know that there are no upsells and no premium membership.

  20. Flashcards are a great way to learn and have fun doing so. I used them a lot with my own children and we treated them like a game. I was pleased to hear that the Tinycards are completely free to use which is a real bonus and being digital is awesome too! I will try these with my grandkids, it will be a fun activity to do with them! Thanks again for the article.

    1. Hi Rina, I am glad to hear you would like to use Tinycards to play with your grandchildren. Have a nice time together.

Your explanation of this method of learning languages was easy to follow and quite in-depth. I feel sure that anyone following your advice will be successful.

    1. Hi Jenni,

thanks for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I wish you enjoy using these digital flash cards.

  22. This is such a great article! Thanks for sharing. My fiance is using Duolingo to learn Japanese and I have thought about doing the same thing so I just told him about Tinycards. He seemed very interested in it, especially since it’s free and a nice companion app to Duolingo. I shall be downloading it myself as well once I get into using Duolingo to help me with my own skills.

  23. When I was younger I played with flashcards. They are great for memorizing and learning new stuff. I must say I never used them, back then, to learn vocabulary in a language. However, I have heard about Duolingo for quite a long time and would like to try it and this additional flashcard program supported also by them.

  24. Thanks for sharing these Tinycards, they seem like a great idea.

Seeing, hearing and reading all put together is definitely the optimum way to learn and remember new information.

I agree that it won’t teach you the language, but it definitely will help to learn some words and to be able to revise words.

I think that this is a great addition to the whole language course.

  25. I have heard of Duolingo but not tiny cards.

Such a good idea to combine the language app with the Tiny cards for greater effect and benefits. I imagine that the learning is easier and faster with this double-barreled approach to learning a new language.

I found this to be an interesting and informative article, thank you.

  26. Hey, what a fantastic resource. I thought I would give it a go.

I have been learning Latin on and off in recent years. So I tried it for 10 minutes of lessons using Tinycards. My conclusion was it’s an excellent tool!

I’ve learned many languages, mostly under my own steam using different books and methods. Sometimes using audiotapes (in the days of audiotapes) and more recently online tools. One of the cornerstones of my approach has been to do things differently each time. That would often mean using a different book.

Another technique I would adopt was to learn a language from one of my other languages. So for example, I have a number of textbooks on Chinese in French.

So, after I have tried TinyCards, I’ll start using it as one of my tools. Thanks for introducing me to Tinycards.

    Best regards, Andy

    1. Hey Andy, thanks for sharing your experience learning languages, with these different approaches. Yes, I know they are effective. Especially the one that involves listening. Glad to hear you’ll incorporate TinyCards as one of your tools.

  27. Hi, Henry!

Generally speaking, learning a foreign language is difficult, but it is also interesting.

I traveled to Italy twice and knew hardly any Italian.

So I would like to acquire some vocabulary and Tinycards seems perfect to help me with that. I’ll give it a try! Thank you for this post.

  28. This is a really comprehensive review of Tinycards. And, through it, we get to learn a bit also about Duolingo. I cannot believe you have mentioned way more than ten groups of Tinycards from Duolingo, it’s helpful! Lots of people would be interested in learning a language like this, but very few would get to the information by themselves.

  29.  I was using Duolingo to learn Greek and noticed these flash cards. Are they new? Anyway, they help the learning process well, especially since there is an audio button, and even after hearing the pronunciation once you can repeat it as often as you need to.

I am not learning Italian yet, I am still focusing on Greek. My knowledge of Italian is intermediate, and at some point I would like to take a course to brush it up again.

  30. Tinycards by Duolingo seems to be a good app. I landed on your site searching for a course to learn Spanish. I will give the Innovative Language platform a try. And since this app helps us with vocabulary and it’s free, I will use it too.
Thank you for your helpful suggestions.

    1. The Innovative Language platform has good courses. And Tinycards by Duolingo can help you improve your vocabulary. There is nothing to lose. It is a good flashcard app, and it’s free.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
